Get to know Dr. Baucum
Dr. Darryl Baucum D.D.S.
Dr. Baucum is a 2007 graduate of The University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree. He was awarded admission to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Dental Society upon graduation for his excellence throughout the dental program, and then began advanced education in periodontal and implant therapy at The University of Texas Dental Branch.
Dr. Baucum is a member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association and Capital Area Dental Society. Dr. Baucum participates in several local and national study groups which meets regularly throughout the year to review new and updated techniques covering all aspects of dentistry. Dr. Baucum is also a current participant in the Kois Continuum program based in Seattle, WA. The Kois Center in Seattle is dedicated to excellence in dentistry through scientific study and advancement.
In 2008, Dr. Baucum met Dr. Richard Ross, a general dentist in Austin for over 30 years, who independently managed his own private practice. They agreed upon the transition of the practice to Dr. Baucum, and he moved back to Austin with his family to take over the practice in October 2008. Dr. Ross retired from the practice of dentistry in 2009 and has since moved to North Carolina to retire with family, though he still keeps in regular contact with the staff, patients and friends he developed over a 30 year period of managing the practice.
Having grown up involved in Boy Scouts, Dr. Baucum enjoys spending free time outdoors with his wife, Leslie, and 2 boys, Kyle and Curtis. Their activities include everything from soccer, t-ball and swimming to bike rides. Dr. Baucum is an avid runner, frequently participating in local short and long distance races.
